Prior to joining Cranemere, Sophie spent eight years at Travers Smith in their London and Paris offices, where she had a diverse practice, which included working on public and private M&A transactions, investments, corporate governance, compliance and commercial matters.
Sophie received first class honours in History and French from Durham University and a MA in Medieval and Renaissance Studies from University College London before qualifying as a solicitor.
I joined Cranemere because of the unique opportunity to work with a highly talented team of people in an environment where ‘business as a force for good’ is the guiding vision in the mission to create sustainable value for the long term.
The historical figure I most admire most is Charlemagne. An enduring hero of mine and the revered subject of my masters thesis. For many he is considered to be the founding father of Europe and his reign, which kickstarted the Carolingian Renaissance, is remembered for its promotion of learning and the arts. On a more personal level, I also admire him for being a polyglot who reportedly spoke ten languages. There is a rather romantic quotation which is attributed to him: “to have another language is to possess a second soul.”
When I’m not working, I’m at the theatre, taking advantage of the rich cultural scene that London has to offer. Mostly this means discovering fantastic new productions, although occasionally it also means sitting through plays that would diplomatically be described as interesting.
